Founding Members:
The Vicki Roberts Band was built on the shared vision and musicianship of three original members: Vicki Roberts, Rob O’steen, and Rick Dyson. What began as a small collaboration grew into a long‑standing musical partnership rooted in harmony, heart, and a love for performing. Together, these founding members shaped the band’s signature sound and set the foundation for everything the group has become today.

Rob O'Steen- lead guitar, flute, back up vocals
Retired June 2025
Rob O’Steen has been a cornerstone of The Vicki Roberts Band
since its earliest days. With his guitar, flute, harmonica, and backing vocals,
Rob helped shape the sound that has carried us through countless nights of
music and memories.
From the Duo in 1999 to the trio in 2003, Rob’s talent and
spirit built the foundation of who we are. In 2025, he retired from the band,
leaving behind a legacy of friendship, laughter, and unforgettable
performances.
We will miss him deeply on stage, but his influence will
always be part of our music — and we hope to see him join us now and then to
keep the tradition alive.

Kevin Hall plays guitar, bass, harmonica, and occasionally sings like Bob Dylan—by choice. He brings grit, soul, and just enough mystery to keep audiences wondering whether he’s about to deliver a blues classic, a folk confession, or a story that started somewhere around verse three. Kevin is famously known on the open-mic circuit for the phrase “Last call for Kevin Hall”, a title earned through years of impeccable commitment to arriving just late enough to make it interesting. Timing, after all, is a suggestion. Once on stage, he settles in like he was there the whole time. He is also known for changing guitars for nearly every song, because each one has a very specific purpose (and because why bring one guitar when you could bring five?). From guitar to bass to mandolin to harmonica—sometimes all in the same set—Kevin keeps things sonically rich and mildly unpredictable. Kevin also plays guitar and bass with the No Drama Band, locking in grooves and low ends while casually pretending not to notice how good it sounds. Whether he’s anchoring the rhythm section or leaning into a Dylan-esque vocal moment, Kevin brings character, depth, and a slightly rebellious refusal to rush anything—including himself. If you hear a soulful riff, a harmonica crying in the distance, or someone singing like they’ve lived a few extra lives, chances are Kevin Hall has finally arrived—and yes, it was worth the wait.

Clara was born in Veracruz, Mexico, where rhythm comes free with the birth certificate. She’s been hitting things with sticks ever since and, against all odds, people keep asking her to do it on stage. Her one true love is the acoustic drums—big, loud, expressive, and impossible to ignore—but she’s also fluent in the more “responsible” options like electronic drums and the HandSonic drum pad, because sometimes technology deserves to be hit too.
Clara plays all kinds of drums because choosing just one would be boring, and silence is deeply suspicious. One of the many advantages of being a drummer is that she is always in the right key— you’re welcome. Her groove is solid, her timing is sharp, and she takes great pride in being the person everyone listens to… even if they don’t always realize it.
When she’s not holding down the groove with the Vicky Roberts Band, Clara is also part of the No Drama Band (yes, that’s the name, and yes, it’s optimistic), which you can catch making noise in South County.
If there’s a beat happening nearby, Clara is probably responsible—happily drumming, slightly sweating, and still wondering why anyone would willingly play a quieter instrument.

Some bass players just hold down the rhythm; Gary tells a
story with it. Playing bass since the '90s, he has become the heartbeat for
bands like The Miller Brothers Blues Band, No Drama, and First Friday. His
style is defined by a passion that convinces you every note matters, laying
down a bottom end that is as heavy and meaningful as it is groovy.
His sound, forged in church choirs, family bluegrass jams,
and school symphonies, has a unique melodic sensibility that sets him apart.
When he isn't locking in the groove, he’s adding soulful depth with gritty
vocals and harmonies that cut straight through the mix.
Music gets his engine
running, and he keeps it fueled by summoning an eclectic background steeped in
blues, rock, metal, country, and funk. It all translates into a lot of soul—and
a lot of fun—whenever he plays.
